I received these Matte Gel Eyeliner Pencils called “Highliners” from Marc Jacobs from Influenster via a VoxBox. If you don’t know what Influenster is yet, OMFG WHO ARE YOU, YOU NEED TO CHECK IT OUT! I was given the products before their launch date to review and test and give my honest opinion about how they work, and how I think they worked/did not work for me. Let’s cut to the chase – I LOVED THEM!

These pencils are freakin’ cool. They are described on the Marc Jacobs website as being a waterproof, smudge proof gel pencil designed to stay on your skin all day, and they really, simply, do exactly what they say they do.

The Formula

The formula of this product is smooth, pigmented, and blendable. It dries fairly quickly, so I do not recommend waiting more than a few seconds after application before you decide to blend it out. I found it blends okay with a fluffy brush, but works best with your fingers when the product is slightly warmed. If you decide to use the product as a base as I did in my video, you may need a few layers to build up your intensity.

The Product Design

Um, hi amazing product design! Look at this packaging! I LOVE how high-end these pencils look with their chrome bodies and slim form. (Ew. I sound like I’m describing a hot robot, haha.) They are retractable which makes ‘sharpening’ easy, and they retract backwards into the barrel as well. The pencils also have a built-in and removable sharpener to make the point of the pencil super sharp in case you need to get detailed with your work. I really could not ask for a better design for a pencil.

The Cost

Twenty-four dollars is a ton of money for a pencil, but it’s not a ton of money for a good gel product that is long lasting, waterproof, smudge proof, and blendable. This product is so versatile that you can use it as a lip liner, a shadow, a base, a liner, and even for your brows. It really pays for itself. Let’s not forget it is retractable and comes with a built in sharpener. IT’S BOMB! Try it, love it, and come back and leave me comments. I highly recommend it!
